Take a look at my campaign information, including my team, my views, and a short bio about myself.
Meyer’s previous experience with a long career in the Federal Government in Washington, D.C., is what he is referencing when talking about why he wants to run for District 18, South Dakota State Senate.
Roger is a native of Tyndall and a graduate of Augustana University. He also attended graduate school at the University of South Carolina. Before joining the Federal government, he worked as a journalist for UPI, a local newspaper editor in Iowa and Executive Director of the South Dakota Republican Party under Chairman Leo Thorsness. After four years as a Congressional staff member on Capitol Hill, he joined the Department of Energy, working in communications for the Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy. He retired in 2010 as Deputy Director of Communications in that office. It was at this time that he and his partner Van Pace moved to Yankton, both retired, he from the Department of Energy and she from the Department of Homeland Security.
Meyer believes his previous experience will bring a different perspective when considering new legislation or the amendment or repeal of existing legislation. He looks forward to meeting with and gaining input from all the voters of District 18.
